Mix and Match Superfood Bowl!

If you are new to healthy eating or just looking for new ways to nourish yourself, consider the humble bowl. 
Up ’til now, you may have known bowls simply as ‘ice cream holders’ or ‘the thing that I put Fruit Loops in’, but I invite you to take a second look at all those bowls lining your kitchen shelves and how they can help you eat more healthfully.

Much like smoothies, one-bowl meals are a great way to stuff extra superfoods and nutrients of all kinds into your diet. Whether I start with a chia porridge, a whole grain like quinoa, or even just a pile of fresh greens, there is always an easy way to concoct beautiful, one-bowl meal recipes with all the healthy seeds, fruits, herbs, veggies and fats your body needs!

Below is the recipe for an easy mix & match quinoa bowl. Enjoy! 


  • ½ cup cooked quinoa

  • ½ cup cooked farro

  • ½ cup cooked brown, black or wild rice

  • ½ cup kasha 


  • broccoli

  • leafy greens

  • kale

  • arugula

  • spinach

  • green onions

  • Brussels sprouts

  • bok choy 

  • micro greens

  • cilantro

  • asparagus

  • green beans 

3. LEAN PROTEIN: Choose one from the below:

  • 4 oz chicken breast

  • 4 oz salmon

  • 4 oz white fish

  • 4 oz shrimp

  • ½ cup beans (chickpea, pinto, black, kidney, navy,)

  •  ½ cup edamame

4. HEALTHY FATS: Choose one from the below:

  • ¼ avocado

  • 1 Tbsp seeds

  • 2 Tbsp nuts 


  • ¼ cup roasted buttternut squash

  • sliced apples

  • sliced radishes

  • Microgreens or sprouts  


  • ½ cup salsa

  • 2 tsp balsamic + 1 tsp olive oil

  • Curry sauce – ¼ cup coconut milk + 1 Tbsp curry paste +1 garlic clove, minced + 2 tsp olive oil + ¼ tsp chili flakes + pinch of salt -juice of one lemon + 2 tsp olive oil + ½ tsp honey 

  • Pesto 

  • Pomegranate molasses (just a drizzle) + 1 tsp avocado oil
